Suhani Jalota

I am the Founder of Myna Mahila Foundation, a women's empowerment organization in India increasing women's control over their health and employment. I am also a Hoover Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, and an affiliated researcher at the King Center for Global Development. I have a PhD from Stanford University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GSB). My areas of interest are development and labor economics, with a particular focus on gender in poor households. I use field experiments to study the interplay between women's economic power, dignity, and health and the role of technology in amplifying their agency.

I am leading a Future of Work for Women Initiative, with the mission to create a cross-sector collaboration to get millions of women to enter the workforce. You can register for the Future of Work for Women Summit we are hosting in April 2025 at Stanford University.

For my work on women's agency, I have been fortunate to have received several honors, including Top 33 She Shapes AI Award, Forbes 30 under 30 Asia, Asia 21 Young Leader, Knight Hennessy Scholar at Stanford, Hindustan Times City 30 under 30, Queen Young Leader award, Glamor College Woman of the Year, and named to top 50 under 50 most powerful women by India Today.
